What’s in a Year?

A year by any other name is still a year. As I get older they just seem to be flying by. It’s time once again to recap, recoup, revisit and reminisce. This was a year of growth for me and the family.

My boys are growing so rapidly I feel sometimes like I’m watching a time-lapse video of them. I can practically measure their changes on a daily basis. I’m so thankful that I’m here with them every day to witness every change.

In May we celebrated Weston’s first birthday. He’s become a real character in the past year. He loves to make us laugh and is always quick with a smile. He is so loving and sweet and I finally have my “Mama’s boy”. He has acquired several nicknames, among which are “Danger Mouse” and “Flight Risk” due to his propensity for running toward the most dangerous thing he sees, climbing, and escaping at every possibility. He’s the one we have to keep an eye on.

Wyatt celebrated his third birthday in June. He’s becoming such a little man already. He’s witty and funny and always questioning. He loves to explore and experiment to discover how things work. He takes after his daddy. Marc even gave him an old lawnmower motor to disassemble this summer and we’ve never seen the boy happier. Into everything, this one.

In August we hosted our annual campout at Salmon Falls. It was a little crazy this year for us having two little guys to chase after, especially with our little Danger Mouse. But we all enjoyed it very much, and had a fantastic turnout. Great food, great company and beautiful weather for swimming in the cold Washougal River.

In September I traveled to San Francisco with my mom, Linda, and brother, Matt, for the annual Rodan + Fields business conference and awards banquet. We had a fantastic time being wined and dined in high style, being trained in new products and doing a little sight-seeing. It’s always nice to be recognized for your efforts. I love the flexibility of being in business for myself and working at home with the boys. My business is growing and thriving and I expect it to continue to grow even more in the coming year.

In October we gained a new camper and were so excited that we immediately took it out to enjoy the beautiful Fall weather we had. We ventured just a little way up the Columbia River Gorge to the mouth of the Deschutes River. The camper was great, but we cut our trip short a day because of all the trains rumbling by us all night. Next time we’ll pay better attention to train track proximity.

In November Marc was given a promotion at work. It will mean less travel in the long run (can I get a “hooray”?). In the short term it will mean that he’s a little more stressed trying to handle his old job, hire and train his replacement, and learn his new job. We’re all looking forward to him being home with the family more and we’re all so proud of him for what he’s accomplished.

We wish you all the best in the New Year!
